Cut for a Cure
“An individual doesn’t get cancer, a family does.”
– Terry Tempest Williams
So many people’s lives have been affected by cancer, whether it is the challenges of having cancer or knowing someone who does. Over the past few years my family and I have faced this challenge personally, as my dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. This has been one of the most difficult obstacles we have ever had to overcome.
Cut for a Cure
I (Chelsey Dirkson) have been growing out my hair for several years and have decided that it is time to make the cut and donate my hair to support individuals with cancer. Procter & Gamble Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, launched the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign in 2007. Thanks to thousands of generous Canadians from coast to coast, over 70,000 ponytails have been donated and made into wigs to help individuals living with cancer regain their confidence and sense-of-self.
A Steak Night fundraiser is being planned for September 16th. Come join me in Moose Jaw at Carol's Cafe & Catering, where will be making the big cut and everyone can enjoy watching me Wig Out!!! Tickets can be purchased at Gemmell's Shoe, Triple 4 Advertising or contact me directly at 306.690.7579.
Please consider a donation in my name or pledge on my behalf to the Canadian Cancer Society. The money raised will help the Canadian Cancer Society fund life-saving cancer research, offer vital information on cancer and provide compassionate support services to people living with cancer and their families.
I am proud to be raising funds to support the fight against cancer and with your support we can help make a difference. I thank you so much in advance for your consideration in supporting me and I hope and pray that one day there will be a cure! Much love to you all!
